Lived Experience Advisor

Shannon Calvert is a lived experience educator and adviser specialising in trauma-informed systems change across eating disorders, mental health, and palliative care. Her work is grounded in nearly three decades of lived experience and is focused on advancing ethical, person-led, and compassionate care. Shannon is currently the Lived Experience Co-Production Co-Lead at the Australian Eating Disorders Research and Translation Centre and has held leadership roles in national policy, research, and service reform. She previously served on the advisory panel for the Million Minds Mental Health Research Mission and the National Mental Health Consumer Carer Forum. She also works independently, providing reflective supervision and supporting the sector to build compassionate, person-centred care pathways — particularly for those with longstanding or complex experiences of eating disorders.
