Dr Christina Marel

Senior Research Fellow and Program Lead, Matilda Centre

Dr Christina Marel is a Senior Research Fellow and Program Lead of Treatment and Translation among Complex Populations at the Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use at the University of Sydney. Dr Marel is currently undertaking an NHMRC TRIP fellowship to bridge the evidence to practice gap in relation to heroin dependence. She has received >$9 million in research funding and in recognition of the significance of her work, been presented with a number of awards (incl. 2017 Australian Drug Foundation Excellence and Innovation in Research, 2016 Australian Rotary Health Knowledge Dissemination Award). Her research focuses on improving our understanding of, and responses to, mental and substance use disorders in complex populations; and developing innovative, evidence-based resources to support the translation of research into clinical practice.
